For new client intake, call us Tuesdays or Thursdays between 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Our intake line is 221-2205.
The Northwest Louisiana Pro Bono Project is a referral service which matches extremely low-income clients with volunteer attorneys in the Caddo-Bossier area. (We do not have attorneys at our office, and we cannot give you legal advice.)
In order to qualify for help through our program, you must live in Caddo or Bossier Parish, and you must have very limited income and assets.
New Client Intake Interviews are done by telephone, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please call 221-2205 during Intake Hours to find out whether you are eligible to receive free legal help through the Pro Bono Project.
Please Note:
The Project does NOT offer emergency assistance with legal matters.
Our program does NOT accept criminal cases of any kind.
Welcome to NWLAPROBONO.NET
Here you'll find information about the Pro Bono Project, eligibility for free legal assistance and how to apply, and links to other community resources. Soon to be added– general information for the public on topics such as renters' rights, family law issues, living wills, oil and gas leasing, and more.
In the coming months, the site will expand to include a special section with resources and articles of interest for attorneys and other legal professionals. Our "attorneys only" section will feature a listing of cases awaiting referral, to allow our volunteer attorneys to select cases based on their specialties and areas of interest. Posted cases will be numerically coded for client privacy and confidentiality, and accessible only to registered members of the Bar.
Another website you should visit is LAWHELP.ORG/LA. Here you'll find online legal resources for people living on low-incomes, including basic information about legal rights, legal self-help, court information, links to social service agencies, and more. You can find out what legal services and pro bono projects serve the parish where you live by clicking here.
Pro Bono Attorneys Hold The Key To Justice
To our extraordinary volunteer attorneys, we extend our most sincere and heartfelt appreciation. Without you, there would be no Pro Bono Project, and no equal access to justice for the many low-income persons in our community who cannot afford legal consultation or representation.
It is your commitment to providing access to the legal system for low-income citizens of our Shreveport-Bossier community, which exemplifies the spirit of the phrase “justice for all.”
Become A Pro Bono Project Volunteer Attorney
Legal aid programs across the country have received serious budget cuts in recent years, and as a result are unable to serve the numbers of needy clients they previously served. Now more than ever, there's a pressing need for individual volunteer attorneys and law firm pro bono involvement in the Shreveport-Bossier area.
If you're a licensed attorney admitted to practice before the courts of Caddo and Bossier Parishes, and you are not already a Northwest Louisiana Pro Bono Project volunteer, please consider becoming one today.
