Pro Bono Project NEWS

Northwest Louisiana Pro Bono Project Debuts New Website

Nwlaprobono.net is now live on the World Wide Web. The site currently includes a section for the public with details about the Pro Bono Project, eligibility for services and how to apply, and links to other community resources.

As the website grows, there will be a separate section for attorneys which will focus on case referral and volunteer recruitment. The "Attorneys Only" section will feature a detailed listing of cases awaiting referral, so volunteer attorneys may select cases in their areas of practice and volunteer interest.

Within the next few weeks, we'll be adding much more to the site, including general information for the public on Louisiana law topics such as renters' rights, family law issues, advance care directives, mineral rights, oil and gas leasing, and more.

Our goal is to use available internet technology to streamline the referral process, increase the number of cases we're able to refer, and raise awareness about the Northwest Louisiana Pro Bono Project.

We hope you'll bookmark nwlaprobono.net, visit us often, and watch us grow!

Pro Bono Project To Implement TIME
Integrated Case Management Software System

We're very excited to be making the transition from our old case management system, to TIME (which stands for Timekeeping & Intake Made Easy)– an integrated intake/case management/timekeeping software package developed by the techno-savvy folks at the Western New York Law Center. TIME collects client and case-related information quickly and easily, complies with LSC data gathering requirements, and alerts the user if those requirements are not complied with. The software is user configurable, and runs on the same database engine for e-filing systems developed for use by the federal courts.

TIME is the software of choice for many legal services agencies throughout the United States. The program contains a full-featured pro bono component, including a referral selection mechanism that allows users to search for attorney matches based on the type of cases they will take, the courts in which they will appear, etc. TIME also provides conflict checks and client lookups at a mouse click, automatically generates letters from information that has been entered once, and even keeps track of calls to a program when no case is opened.

Attorneys, if your practice includes much SSI/SSD work, you might also want to check out their Social Security Assist software.
